Korean Tteok

Tteok (rice cake) is a popular traditional dish in Korea with many variations, some common ingredients are mugwort, mung bean, red bean, soybean, chestnut, honey, pumpkin, sesame seeds and dried fruits. Tteok has been enjoyed not only as desserts or seasonal delicacies, but also as meal.

Glutinous rice is pounded to a gluey, sticky mass, which is then formed into a variety of different shapes and sizes. Tteok is usually a food that is shared and it's often shared with neighbors and relatives. In Korea, no festival days or celebrations is complete without them.
