Ladies' Fingers

Okra, also known in many countries as ladies' fingers, is a flowering plant in the mallow family. It is valued for its edible green seed pods.

Okra leaves may be cooked in a similar way to the greens of beets or dandelions. The leaves are also eaten raw in salads.

Malaysian Chinese love to stuff it with processed fish paste and then boil it with a selection of vegetables and tofu, but my personal favorite is pan-fried okra with dried shrimps and belacan.

Dried Shrimps

This is belacan, mistaken for chocolate brownies?

My dinner yesterday - one of the dishes was
