The name "durian" is derived from the Malay-Indonesian languages word for duri, it means "spike".

The durian is a seasonal fruit, in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, the season for durians is typically from June to August, and the prices of durians are relatively high as compared with other fruits.

Regarded by many people in southeast Asia as the "king of fruits", the durian is distinctive for its large size, strong odor, and formidable thorn-covered husk.

Hmm, yummy, definitely one of my favorite fruits!
